I married the man of my dreams in 2010, and was excited to start our little family right away. I could not have been happier when I found out I was expecting our first child later in the year. We had our lives planned and then “life happened”. My husband of three days suffered a massive stroke, he was in ICU for five weeks. Miraculously, he survived with minimal deficiency, however, needed nine months off work to recover.
Just like most parents to be, we were expecting a healthy child going into the delivery room. Our first born, Olivia, whom we lovingly called Goosie, was born with a rare disorder called Cornelia De Lange Syndrome. She was brain damaged, had to be tube fed and there were at least five other major medical issues. The doctors told us we should concentrate on her quality of life, which had an expectancy of approximately 3 months. My husband and I refused to give up. We sold everything we had, moved in with my parents and focused on Goosie. We went to see different alternative medical practitioners, we did not give up on any opportunity if there was any chance that it could help her. Between my husband and I both taking time off work and the medical bills, we were drowning in debt very quickly. Eleven months after Goosie was born, I had to declare bankruptcy.
When Goosie was fifteen months old, we had our second child who came seven weeks premature. He had to stay in NICU for three weeks. The weekend they told us our son was finally ready to come home, was the same weekend Goosie passed away.
For the next two years, I focused on getting better. We had our third child who was healthy. I overcame my depression. I worked work to regain my self-confidence. We restructured our HVAC business. I obtained my real estate licence.
We were ready to move on with our lives. We wanted our own space with our two boys. Even though we made sufficient income, we were declined for a mortgage due to my bankruptcy.
I spoke with different Rent To Own companies to explore different options, however, none of the companies I spoke to made financial sense to me as a hopeful home buyer, until I met Neil and Rachel from Clover Properties. Clover Properties Home Buyer Deferred Purchase program was fair to the home buyers, it was designed for all parties to be successful. Even though I met the Clover Properties team as a real estate professional for my other clients, I knew right away this program was meant for my family as well.
I became a home buyer with the Deferred Purchase program. I went through all the steps just like any other home buyer.
Because of the Home Buyer Deferred Purchase program, my husband and I now own a home that we love, a home where my boys are growing up in, a home where every corner has a wonderful memory. Our First Family Home.
This program has changed my life, it has given us hope when everywhere else seemed dark. We mattered in this program. Our life experience mattered. We were not just a credit score that was easily declined.
The Home Buyer Deferred Purchase program not only gave me a home, it also made me realize my new calling in life. To help others who was in the same situation. My passion, my experience and my knowledge has made me the specialist I am today. Not only do I help hopeful home buyers like I was once myself, I also train real estate agents to help others. My goal is to help as many families as possible.
